What Causes Microscopic Hematuria Despite A Negative Urine Culture?

I have been experiencing the typical symptoms of a uti. The urinalysis came back with high RBC and WBC counts but the bacterial culture came back negative. Microbid, the antibiotic I am taking has helped to relieve the symptoms. If this is indeed a uti, is it possible for the bacterial culture to have come back negative?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
There are several causes of RBC in urine. It may be UTI, urinary tract stone, malignancy, or primary renal disorders. Negative urine culture is possible despite having UTI. But other serious causes needs to be excluded.
Advice
1.     Continue Microbid as suggested
2.     Drink 4 – 5 liters of uncontaminated water
3.     Syrup alkaline citrate 2 teaspoonful three times daily
4.     Investigations –
a.     Repeat R/E of urine
b.     Repeat C/S of urine
c.     Serum creatinine
d.     Blood urea
e.     X – ray KUB
f.     USG abdomen & pelvis
g. CBC
Further action will be taken after reports of above recommended tests.
Thanks
