What Causes Migraine Headaches Along With Nausea And Vomiting?

My 36 year old daughter has had migraine headaches for years. Recently she has also had severe pain behind her eye and shooting pains down the side of her face. She has nausea and vomiting and she can t do anything when this happens. She can t even think to answer questions. The most unusual symptom is she has a metallic taste in her mouth when this happens. What could this be. She said the shooting pains in her face and metallic taste are new. She has missed so much work because of these headaches, she is afraid she will lose her job. She has been to doctors and they say it is cluster headaches. Nothing they have given her has helped her. Do you know of any other thing that could cause all these symptoms. Thank You.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have migraine headaches along with nausea and vomiting. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sinusitis ,diabetes, type 2 , mumps , multiple sclerosis , kidney disease , low blood pressure and sleep apnea . . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order T scan , throat swab test , blood test and examination of ear with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics for atleast 5 days along with anti inflammatory , decongestant and expectorant . For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain , take steam several times a day and do warm saline rinses . Also consult neurologist for migraine ,who may prescribe betablockers , frusemide or vasograine .
