my DAUGHTER IS 23 YEARS OLD. SHE HAS A 4 YEAR GIRL AND A 4 MONTH OLD BABY. SHE HAD THAT BIRTH CONTROL THAT YOU INSERT UNDER THE SKIN UNDER YOUR ARM. ABOUT A MONTH LATER SHE STARTED HAVING MIGRAINES DAILY THE KIND THAT MAKES YOU THROW UP. THIS WENT ON FOR A MONTH. MIGRAINES EVERY DAY. TOOK HER TO EMERGENCY AND THEY GAVE HER SOME MEDICINE THAT THEY GAVE HER THROUGH AND IV. THE HEADACHE WAS STILL THERE. THE ONLY THING THAT MADE IT GO AWAY WAS MORPHINE. SHE IS STILL HAVING THE MIGRAINES, BUT NOW SHE IS HAVING FEVER. WHAT DO YOU THING SHE SHOULD DO?
Fever with vomiting and headache points towards meningitis. So you cannot take risk and get her CT or MRI scan done to check for meningitis if present.
If no brain pathology than cause for headache should be searched like high blood pressure, low sugar etc apart from migraine.
If your doctor confirmed that headache is due to migraine than rizatriptan like higher medication for migraine can be prescribed.
If brain infection present in MRI scan than antibiotic needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
