What Causes Mild Chest Pain And Head Pressure Post TAVR Procedure?
My father 88 had a tavar valve procedure performed a year ago. he seemed to be doing well. sunday he noted a pressure in his head and slight chest pain on the left. I brought my dad to the hospital. They want to perform a stress test tomorrow. First I need to know why, what the purpose is for him and is it safe
To screen for co-existing CAD(Coronary artery disease ) is often necessary before transcatheter valve replacement (TAVR) for severe aortic stenosis in view of age.
For Post TAVR, chest pain evaluation, a non-invasive Stress test can be done first; if positive Coronary angiography is indicated.2-D echocardiography must have ruled out valve dysfunction-hence may be the requirement.
Preoperative coronary angiography is performed otherwise routinely as determined by age, symptoms, and coronary risk factors for severe AS who are being considered for surgical or transcatheter valve replacement.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
