What Causes Mild Cough With Breathing Difficulty And Tightness In Throat?
Hi, i have had a mildly irritating cough now for over 2 months, it does not seem to be like a usual sore cough at the back of the throat but when it happens it can cause me to have breathing difficulties for a few seconds. Seems to produce a little bit of phlegm and a tightnes in the throat but no throat pain. I drink regularly at the weekends usually Sat/Sun. I am 34 years old and male and do not have any medical conditions. I work in an air-conditioned office. Appreiciate your answer, thanks.
Two months is a long time to suffer as the body's own mechanism should have help complete recovery. The causes I can think about is working in AC rooms exposes to allergens, repeated viral infections therefore leading to instigating or enhancing factors * I would advise you the following in such a situation: * Anything more than a week needs clinical evaluation by your doctor, preferably an ENT surgeon * X-ray of the chest and sinuses * Relevant tests of blood
All these will give the cause of your symptoms so that a specific treatment can be done. * Till then you can try nasal decongestant, oral medicines for symptomatic relief like antihistamine * PFT that is pulmonary function tests to rule out allergic bronchial asthma
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
