What Causes Mild Fever And Swollen Wrist After Pacemaker Implantation?

My Mom, age 82 had a pacemaker implanted 2 wks ago. The site itself has healed nicely.Swelling has all gone down. The underside of her left arm just above the elbow to the wrist is swollen and looks like it is full of blood. She is also running a low grade fever, 99.5

hi
this swelling can be due to post procedural compression on the venous blood vessels, or a local haematoma collection in the available subcutaneous pockets.

this can lead to infection or soft tissue cellulitis,or lymphaedema the reason for low grade fever.

i suggest you to meet the treating doctor as early as possible before the infection worsens to evaluate the problem with an x-ray or local ultrsound.

heamogram to find the Hb & wbc count for any blood loss or infection.

keep the limb slightly elevated.
