What Causes Mild Hypertension?

I am 56 years old with mild hypertension and I experience vision loss and almost blackout during mild exercise, cutting the lawn. During a walk this spring I had an event and went to the ER, they did a heart cath and found only mild blockage, 20 to 30% and gave me blood pressure med and after 60 days I still have the same issue, what could be the problem?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Is your echo normal? During black outs did you experience any fast heart rate, were you dehydrated, working in hot environment, or are you diabetic? Please get back with these answers. Also monitor your blood pressure and increase fluid intake. Avoid standing for long time or working in hot environment for long time. This can be most probably vasovagal syncope. Also get lipid profile tested once.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar Makode
