What Causes Mild Pain And Inflammation In The Hip Post A Replacement Surgery?

I had a full hip replacement in 2007 at age 54, and occasionally feel some strain (only very mild, temporary pain, not inflammation) in that hip when stretching/exerting it, although it may be just getting older (I am 63). Should I see an orthopedic doctor or my surgeon as a follow up to my surgery, now 9 years later?

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it can be muscular, however, with the history of replacement it's always better to keep a follow up, in case of any issue, and in your case it's been 9 years so yes you should get a follow up visit. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
