Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing mild pain and pressure in the area of my heart since yesterday evening. I was quite uncomfortable sleeping on my side, not so much when I stretched out on my stomach. The pain is slight when I m sitting, but I can almost feel my heart bouncing when I walk. I have COPD, but am not having difficulty breathing, but might be a little congested. It doesn t feel like pleurisy. I did have some mild flu-like symptoms several days ago. Is this a heart thing or just congestion resulting from the flu?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have mild pain and pressure in chest . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like heart attack , angina , acid reflux , disorders of the esophagus , viral bronchitis , bruised ribs , sore muscles and panic attack . I would suggest you to consult cardiologist to rule out more serious condition and for test like troponin t test , TMT , complete blood profile and check vitals . Doctor may prescribe isosorbid nitrate , betablockers , frusamide , sedatives and aspirin . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux or chest specialist for chest problem . For now take proper rest , take light and non spicy food and do not exert your body . Do not lift heavy object by bending forward and apply warm compresses on chest .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
