What Causes Mild Pain And Pressure In Nose Leading To Headaches?

Hello. I often experience a mildly painful pressure-like sensation in my nose from which my headaches (which are frequent) seem to stem. This might sound like a common sinus headache, but I m not convinced. You see, when applying pressure to my nose (in order to dull the pain somewhat), I m aware of a gap or hole between my nasal bone and the septal nasal cartilage on my left side. It seems that I simply do not have cartilage in this area (the right side, however, is perfectly intact). When I rub my nose, it consistently makes a clicking nose. The discomfort I experience is centralized mostly upon the bridge of my nose and usually occurs simultaneously with a headache. Is this situation unusual? Is there any treatment I can seek? I have been experiencing this problem for a while now (perhaps a few years), and while it s in no way debilitating, it is uncomfortable, unpleasant, and often painful. Thank you for your time and help.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have mild pain and pressure in nose leading to headaches. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sinusitis , migraine along with nasal polyp . I would suggest you to consult ENT specailsit for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan along with nasal endoscopy and physical examination . Doctor may recommend surgical removal of nasal polyp , or prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin at least for 5 days along with decongestant and expectorant . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for migraine . For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and take steam thrice a day .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
