What Causes Mild Pain Below The Rib Cage Radiating To The Abdomen?

I was gardening, (lots of bending and lifting, shoveling) and suddenly experienced dull pain under ribs on right side....I thought maybe pulled muscle, but it was more in stomach area and floated around. I have been working on my computer since and just got up and pain is now in back. Any thoughts? I am 78 but in excellent health, vegan, esmonde-white exercises, non drinker since 84 and not on any medication. Thanks for your help...Pat

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

While you don't have any other health issues, your current problem seems to be gas in loops of intestines, moving according to your body movements & causing pressure in the part of the intestine to cause pain.

A spoon of fruit salt with water would relieve it. If it does not you need a medical check-up to find the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
