I have a mild ache in back tooth. my dentist xrayed and coud not see anything but is sending me to a root canal I . this has been going on for over 3 months.i get mild pain behind my ear and sometimes I fell pain in my jaw . some days I do not have any problems . any thankyou
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of mild pain in jaw and behind the ear which seems to be due to contact points between upper and lower cusps of molar teeth, bruxism, stress and could be due to temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dentist again for proper examination. Doctor may order x-ray to rule out causes like bruxism, dental infection and other TMJ problems. Doctor may prescribe you night guard if it is non dental cause and if it is due to tooth infection doctor may prescribe proper antibiotic course. Avoid eating anything hard from that side. You should eat soft food and take liquid diet and do not open you mouth wide.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
