What Causes Mild Pain In Lower Abdominal Area Post Angiogram?

Had Angioplasty after heart attack (RCA inferior) in January 2016. Primary PCI with stenting was performed in the same setting. Two months later, I had another angiogram to check the condition of the stent as I had ectatic Artery. Ever since this second angiogram, I have bee having dull pain in the lower abdomen and the right side of the abdomen. I also excessive gas. Is this Expected?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If the stent procedure was performed through radial or brachial artery (which is the usual case), pain lower abdomen and gas do not co relate with the procedure; against the femoral approach which is much concerned. My guidelines at present:
- Do regular aerobics (after discussion with your cardiologist) to control the belly fat
- High fiber diet
- Bulk forming laxatives manage soft, regular stool evacuation without failure
- Avoid spices, non-veg, junk items, dairy fat
- Avoid weight lifting (if involved)
- Control of blood sugar, cholesterol, body weight

An ultrasound or other relevant investigation are needed as per the requirement ahead in clinical scene.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
