i am scheduled for left atrium catheter ablation first week of June. About three years ago, I had a right atrial catheter ablation procedure which apparently solved flutter. During last two years, the anti-arrhythmia medication stopped the irregular heart beat. However, the A-Fib returned and Dr scheduled a Pulmonary Vein Ablation Procedure. Besides irregular heart beat, experienced fatigue, light headedness, etc. I am 79 years-old, good physical shape(?) non-smoker, non drinker. Anyway, I have all the confidence in my Doctors expertise and advice. For the last several days (weeks?) I am experiencing a mild sharp pain around or inside the left side of my heart , not my chest. The pain persists for a few minutes and disappears for maybe an hour or longer. My question is should i just wait until the operation or should I alert my Doctor about this new pain. I feel very fortunate to be able to have these kinds of medical treatments and really hate to bother doctors who are very busy trying to take care of many patients. On the other hand, I also worry very much about too much self diagnosis, jumping to conclusions and taking up valuable time with standard pains associated with the heart problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
