What Causes Mild Pressure Below Sternum After Cycling?

After doing 90 seconds of indoor cycling at a high resistance, quads burning with lactic acid (simulating a hill climb) I felt very focused mild pressure at my sternum/solar plexus. I did not feel pressure on my chest, my breathing was already hard, but recovered as usual. I felt no pain under either arm. The pressure lasted about 2-3 minutes. I stopped my workout.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

I understand your concern and I will be glad to answer it for you.

You did a work out under high resistance. It is not ideal to start at a time with high resistance workouts though you are capable of doing it. It should with low resistance and slowly increase to high, so that the body/muscles/heart will get adjusted to it.

In your case a you said it is tightness, it can be a muscl spasm mostly which got relieved after 2 to 3 minutes.

I want you to get an ECG once if this repeats. Otherwise no problem.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards
Dr Chaithanya
