What Causes Mild Pulsating Pain Under The Ribcage Along With Tenderness?

I am experiencing a mild, pulsating (approximately once per half hour) pain or spasm under the bottom of my left ribcage. The immediate bottom of my ribcage is slightly tender, and the spasm is almost directly under it. It s not painful enough for me to consider going in to a doctor, but it s abnormal. It s been going on all day. I have no fever, no urinary or bowel issues that I m aware of.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a muscle spasm. I suggest using a spasmolytic such as Baclofen three times a day. I also suggest using magnesium supplements and warm compresses at the painful area.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
