What Causes Mild Vaginal Bleeding Post Intake Of Unwanted-72?

I had unprotected sex on 1st march and took unwanted72 within an hour.I had very light bleeding on 8th march a week early than expected period date(17th march)Blood was dark in color.Now,problem is my periods not stop till today(17th march)Very light bleeding occurs.Plz help

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Mild vaginal bleeding post intake of an emergency contraceptive pill like Unwanted 72 is not a problem. The bleeding you had on 8th march must be breakthrough bleeding which normally occurs within 3 weeks of intake of this pill. This is bleeding normal feature of intake of emergency contraceptive pill & means that intake of Unwanted 72 was successful in preventing pregnancy. You should not be much concerned about it.
This bleeding is due to high dose of levonorgestrel in the pill, which disrupts your normal menstrual cycle & cause this type of bleeding. On 17th of march you should have your periods. This bleeding would become heavy just like a period
Don't take Unwanted-72 pill too frequently. These pill can cause irregular periods & other serious side effects. Use condom or regular contraceptive pill regularly as method of contraception in future. These have less side effects & are more effective in preventing pregnancy.

Refer to a gynaecologist if problem persists
