What Causes Milky Discharge From The Breasts While Suffering From PCOS?
Hello, I m 24 yrs old and suffer from PCOS. My breasts are lactating and are overly filled with milk and I am not and have never been pregnant. I was prescribed metformin and birth control pills to treat my PCOS but after more research I got off them. They only caused more harm. If I have a hormone imbalance what sense does it make to trick my body and system with synthetic estrogen from the BC pills and fill my body with more hormones. Isn t that defeating the purpose. How can my breasts stop producing milk and lactating? It s extremely painful and they are in fact getting bigger and bigger which is beyond inconvenient and uncomfortable for me. They are red and ridiculously heavy and the milk barely comes out unless u squeeze the nipple myself. Otherwise it doesn t drain on its own. Doctors checked my blood levels and they are saying my prolactin level and testosterone etc are all normal and came back negative. Yet I still haven t gotten a period in 14 months and my breasts are getting worse by the week. Literally. They also don t believe it s a tumor in my pituitary gland because my blood levels came back normal. I m so confused and I been suffering for years. No one gives me any answers. I m 5 3 and my whole life I weighed 120 lbs and I m now 196 lbs. there is an immense amount of milk in my breasts and it won t stop producing. Please Help Me!!!!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You are having hormonal imbalance for sure.
Ander this is causing you breast Heaviness, milk production etc.
So in my opinion, you should definitely consult endocrinologist and get done detailed female hormone analysis like estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH etc.
Based on the reports, you will need specific hormone pills to regulate hormones.
Once your hormones are normalize, you will be alright.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
