What Causes Milky White Vaginal Discharge, itching And Burning Sensation?

I have noticed a vaginal discharge that has an odor. It comes and goes. I am a 42 year old married woman and notice it more often for a couple days after we have been sexually active. If we are not active I don t see the discharge. I have no itching, burning or swelling. This is very unpleasant and I am not sure what it is. It appears to be milky in color. And only a dot here and there. Not consistent.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a yeast infection. I suggest to use an anti-fungal cream for vaginal application such as Clotrimazole cream. I also suggest to take an anti-fungal medication such as Fluconazole 150 mg once. I recommend to maintain a good hygiene and use cotton underwear.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
