Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I just received my 24 hour holter monitor results and I have very frequent (53%) ventriulcar ectopy including mutliple (4564) couplets and frequent (2256) runs (3-4 beat) of non sustained ventricular tachycardia, rates up to 170bpm. Amongst this one dominant morphology. I don t know what this all means but I am worried and my cardioligist has brought my next appointment forward from June to the end of March. Prior to this 12 months ago the frequency was 15%. I am on beta-blockers and feel fine otherwise and dont really notice my heart missing beats too often. Based on all this should I be concerned as I am feeling anxious. Regards Andrew

What Causes Missed Heart Beats?
Hello, You may be suffering from ventricular ectopics. Couplets are one type of ectopic beat in which there are two premature complexes in a row. If you re symptomatic, you need to get treated. Common causes are cardiac structural, functional defects, electrolyte imbalance, hyperthyroidism, hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia etc. Please consult your physician/cardiologist he will examine and treat you accordingly. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu, Internal Medicine Specialist
