What Causes Missed Period After Having Protected Sex In A Thyroid Patient?
Hello, Missed period can be caused by pregnancy, thyroid dysfunction, usage of emergency contraceptives, polycystic ovarian disease, ovarian cyst or tumor, sudden weight loss, obesity or stress. To those patients who come to my clinic with similar symptoms do a home pregnancy test. If negative, do thyroid function tests and other tests like ultrasound imaging of abdomen and pelvis. Period duration between 21 and 40 days is considered normal. So you can just wait for the next period or go to a gynecologist. Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
