Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am about 4 days late for my menstraul cycle. Earlier today I had some light pink and brown spotting when I wiped but not a red flow like I do have when I get my period. I have taken two pregnancy test. One 2 days before by period and the other when I was two days late and the results were both negative. What should I do?
Pregnancy tests detect the level of HCG. HCG is normally detectable by day 11 to 14 by most tests, in some cases earlier.
If the test is truly negative then one of the other causes of the delayed period would need to be considered eg:
(1)emotional or physical stress or illness
(2)thyroid hormone disease
(3)high levels of the hormone prolactin
(4)a side effect of medication
(5)inadequate die
(6)polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
