What Causes Missed Period Despite Having A Negative UPT?

Hi, it s been 10 days past my period date. And when I did my pregnancy test in 5 days it showed negative clearly and in 10th day the results are not clear. I did the test twice with early morning pee. I am not prepared for this baby and my tsh level is also high. Doctors say that 1 cannot get pregnant if tsh level is not normal. How am I getting pregnant ??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thyroid hormone levels may affect the fertility rate if they are not normal but an abnormally functioning thyroid does not prevent pregnancy 100% of the time. So, there are still chances that a woman may get pregnant even though she has low thyroid function (high TSH).
Because the last urinary pregnancy test was indeterminate, I would recommend you to have a blood test-BHCG. This will tell for sure if you are pregnant or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
