What Causes Missed Period When Diagnosed With Thyroid Disorder?
hello Doctor.. I m 31 year old, hight 4.5, weight 55kg. i was detected urine infection last week and taking oratil cv 500 for that. i had period on 7/11. i have regular periods. and on 27/11 i had relationship with my partner but that was safe one. i have not got period yet. I m also having thyroid, rheumatoid arthritise. i m worried about my period
The period can be affected by many different factors including the presence of another physical illness such as an infection. Illness can alter hormone levels. The other causes of delayed period are:
(1) abnormal levels of thyroid hormone (2) emotional illness or stress (3) high levels of a hormone called prolactin (4) polycystic ovarian syndrome (5) side effect of medication - this usually refers to hormonal medication (6) inadequate diet (7) excess physical activity
You can consider waiting to see if the period occurs but if you are concerned, a pregnancy test should be done. These tests detect HCG and can diagnose pregnancy from day 11 to 14 after conceptionaI.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
