What Causes Missed Periods And Milk Discharge From Nipples?
Hi i am a 42 yr old women who has had 5 cesarean sections and after the fifth one I ve been clamped (tubes). I always have regular period but up until 4 months ago i have become sexually active. I recently noticed that there was milk discharging from both nipples and have just missed a period. I have had blood tests to see if my thyroid is out of wack as well as my hormones, all was well. It is very milky not a watery kind of fluid. Can it be at all possible that i am pregnant.?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sirisha's Response
42yrs is not a very big age to r/o chances of pregancy as long as periods are coming.regarding tubectomy there are very rare chances of failure for which many reasons are there like the method applied for ligation of fallopian tubes, where in ligated tubes grow back together. But usually the chance of ectopic pregnancy is more and it is better you consult your gyn dr immediately. Ectopic pregnancy is a life threatening condition and if detected early through ultrasound it can be handled easily by your doctor. In my view your symptoms are suggesting possibility of pregnancy. If pregnancy is ruled out you need to get your pituatory harmones checked.
