What Causes Missed Periods Inspite Of Having Hypothyroidism?

I have been getting treatment for 3 months now for a hypothyroid. Before that I had a severe hyperthyroid and I got the radioactive iodine treatment done. It has been three months now and I have not had a period. Should this be a cause for concern or should my body get back to normal once my thyroid levels balance out?

Hello,
I have gone carefully through your query.
Yes, one of the causes of amenorrhea can be thyroid hormone imbalance.
You should check the TSH level if there are more than 6 weeks that you have started levothyroxine treatment. If TSH is within the normal ranges, than the menstrual cycle should be back to normal within the month.
Otherwise another cause should be found.
