General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Taking any of the emergency hormonal contraceptives can throw off a person's cycle. They are large doses of progestin. It's not uncommon for periods to be late, or spotting or change in flow when you do get the period. Effects can last for 2 months (not the contraceptive effects but the irregular period effect) but usually just for one.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
