What Causes Mood Swings Along With Low Libido And Hot Flashes?

My wife has been having mood swings, irritability, low sex drive, hot flashes, depression, fatigue, she’s always tired and falls asleep anytime of the day, memory loss and sometimes irregular periods. She had our daughter a year and 3 months ago. Any idea what’s wrong? She wasn’t like this before her pregnancy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Rule out thyroid problem by serum TSH estimation.
Secondly, hormonal imbalance also should be checked here by serum estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH, prolactin estimation.

If needed USG scan also can be done.

Rule out history of stress, anxiety, etc., if present.

Depression can lead less sexual drive. Consult gynecologist for examination and accordingly further management plan decided.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
