What Causes Mood Swings, Stomach Cramping/ache And Sickness In A Child?

Hi, my 12 year old daughter has yet to start her periods she has been getting monthly mood swings and yesterday had severe stomache cramps. She was then sick. She has only been sick once but the tummy ache has continued. Is it possible that the sickness is linked to her hormones

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Does she have any other symptoms like fever, nausea, vomiting or dysuria? This can be attributed to hormonal changes if it comes every month in a periodic manner. If she do not have aforementioned additional symptoms, just give her paracetamol after food with 1 glass water for 3 days. Adding antacids like Pantoprazole will help reducing any acidity. If pain continues, or recurs every month, kindly take her to doctor for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
