What Causes Mood Swings While On Anti-epileptic Drugs?
Hi, My sister is 26 years old and she is suffering from epilepsy since when she was 5 . She was on medication and as she was growing her medicines also increased every year ..she is now on heavy medication and she gets convulsions if she skips any of the doze..We notice that she is always irritated, dull and she is not active and sharp . we are scared, at the moment she is taking to many tablets and we just want to know if is there any way that she can get rid of medicines and live a normal life. we have consulted with lot of doctors but we dint get any solution for her disease. Regards, Rajni
The antiepileptic drugs affect via action on central nervous amines with particular those of serotonin and acetylcholine pathways, which mediate mood sensations.
It is dose or drug-related only and requires the modification with her doctor to get best results.
