What Causes Mouth Bleeding?

My mom is about 70 yrs. since past 3 - 4 years occasionally blood used to come from her mouth. Recently she consulted a doctor who advised x-ray, blood test etc. After diagnostics doctors say it is NOT a TB symptom. But doc does not say why blood comes from mouth. Doc says some abnormality in stomach as old cough is accumulated. We are not clear in understanding. What should we do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Blood from mouth may be due to small ulcers or gum bleeds or sinusitis or vitamin C deficiency, etcetera. Lung or intestinal pathology may cause hemoptysis or hemetemesis.

You need to do CT chest and Upper GI endoscopy. Please consult your Gastroentrologist who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
