Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Mucus Drainage From The Eyes When Suffering From Viral Sinusitis?
I have a bad cold and probably Viral sinusitis (vs Bacterial), although my doctor gave me a prescription for a Zpac Antibiotic. I have a lot of sinus congestion and pain. But today I have either a pus or mucus drainage in both eyes (very crusty in one eye this morning) and one eye is very red. Should I go ahead an fill the prescription and treat it like a bacterial infection rather than a viral infection?
You should be checked by either your own doctor or an ophthalmologist to determine if it is a viral or bacterial infection. The presence of pus along with bilateral affection and sinusitis suggests bacterial infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
