What Causes Muscle Cramps All Over The Body?

What could be the cause of intense whole body muscle cramps, especially at night. I also experience muscle weakness in arms and legs, and pain in several locations. This is a long standing problem that seems to be increasing in severity. I deal with several auto-immune conditions: Hypothyroidism, Celiac Disease, Asthma, Allergies, and Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have been told that I have some nerve impingement at both lumbar and cervical locations, (MRI s) but that doctors do not believe that to be the cause of these symptoms, especially in light of their long duration and increasing severity. These are not mere charlie horse type cramps. They reduce me to sobs and gasps on frequent occasions and are wreaking havoc with sleep, and thereby, of daily function. Thank you.
