See the Right side of the heart chambers supply blood through the pulmonary artery to the lungs for purification whichis later driven to the left side of the heart.

In long standing respiratory diseases, the pressure in the pulmonary artery goes high due to fibrosis which is reflected in the Right Heart Chambers. This leads to dilatation and later thickening and heardening of the walls of these chambers.

This condition called 'Chronic Cor-Pulmonale' further worsens the problem of shortness of breath due to Rt. Sided Heart Failure producing swelling of feet, engorged neck veins and enlargement of liver.
