What Causes Muscle Pain In Left Leg And Thigh?

I am a 41 year old female. Over the past few days (maybe 6 or so) I have had what feels like a strained muscle pain in my left leg in my thigh about six inches above the knee. It has been getting worse. I don t recall a specific incident that could have pulled the muscle initially but two days ago I was climbing up some rocks at the beach and did feel that area strain a bit more (it had already been hurting) and the pain in my leg has increased since then. There is no redness or swelling that I can tell. It doesn t hurt as much if I keep my leg resting. It hurts when I move it but the most when I touch or bump the area. I am wondering if it is a strained muscle or could it be a blog clot? I have no risk factors for clotting that I know of. Thx!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The muscle pain you are experiencing may be due to stress/strain, dehydration, low blood electrolyte levels, tendon/ligament soreness or inflammation, nerve damage, varicose vein or blood clots etc. Apply pain relieving ointments & ointment Thrombophob for relief. You can take muscle relaxants like Baclofen or tizanidine, one SOS when needed for relief.

Take rest, keep your legs elevated on a stool while sitting & on a pillow when on bed. Light stretch exercises & applying ice pack are effective. You are suggested to get clinically examined, get all required blood workouts & investigations (imaging tests) done to rule out chronic venous insufficiency, developing sciatica, PID, diabetic neuropathy, etc. Wear proper shoes & maintain correct posture.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
