I have been having pain in muscles for the past 3 to 4 months., in my thigh, my knee , elbow, both shoulders, wrist, the pain starts in 1 place slowly, then the pain is excruciating., normally lasts a few days and I barely have movement in that limb., then the pain goes away, and reappears in a different area between a few days and a few weeks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms you have mentioned are highly suggestive of autoimmune itiology. Polymyalgia not associated with any certain reason and its intermittent , comes and goes in intervals should not be ignored. I would suggest you to see a rheumatologist.

He will take your history and after doing a physical examination, he will suggest you to get some blood work and other diagnostic tests done to know the underlying cause for your symptoms. Once the test results come, he will be able to diagnose you and suggest you appropriate medicines which will help to imporve your condition. Till then pain relieving medicines will be suggested by him for temporary relief.

So follow your doctor’s advice for better management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
