It started this morning with just an achy muscle feeling below my collarbone. Now it is throughout the shoulder to the back above the shoulderblade. I haven t had an injury and I do not remember straining it. My concern is could it be heart related? I am female age 50

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. It is better to have an ecg to rule out cardiac cause of pain to be on safe side. Your problem can be most likely due to repetitive stress injury. A physical examination with an orthopedician is well appreciated for this. Ice pack application, local anti inflammatory gels like ketoprofen and NSAIDs like ibuprofen will be helpful. In case of recurrent pain physiotherapy will be helpful also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
