What Causes Muscle Spasm On The Lower Back?

I have muscle spasm on both sides of my back just below mid level. When I lay down on a hard flat surface such as the floor, I can t get back up because of sharp pain. I have to roll over on my side to get back up. Also if I lift anything heavy I have sharp pain in my lower back right in the center.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Muscle spasm in the lower back could have occurred due to lumbar vertebral pathology.
Kindly get x-ray of the lumbar region done.
Kindly consult Orthopedician with the report for appropriate management.
In the mean time, for temporary relief, you can take Tablet. Diclofenac with Chloroxazone as ingredient twice daily after food. You can also apply analgesic cream over the affected part thrice a day. Avoid lifting heavy objects which can affect your back and aggravate the symptoms.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
MBBS., MD.
