What Causes Muscle Spasms All Over The Body?

Hi, I am a 51 year old female. I was diagnosed 7 years ago with asthma. It has been controlled with inhalers and breathing treatments. This go around I have been unable to get it controlled. I am on albuterol for my nebulizer, symbicort, pro-air and singulair. It has been 3 weeks now. I am having muscle spasms all over the body and medication is not lasting more than a few hours. Could this be something more than asthma?

The muscle spasms are possible side effect of certain bronchi dilator drugs used for control of asthma.
