What Causes Muscle Spasms And Headaches While On Compazine And Benadryl?

I had to go to the ER Tuesday night for an Occipital Neuralgia headache. Brief background; I have had these for five years and haven t really gotten much relief from them. I ve had ganglion blocks and an Occipital Ablation. My GP/Internist treats it as best we can to give me somewhat of a normal life. When I got to the ER the Dr. there treated me with Compazine and Benedryl. I haven t slept for days, I ve had abnormal muscle movements and spasms that have caused further headaches, my neck muscles are so sore I can t touch them and they are causing the Occipital regions greater pain. Is this something that could have been caused by the Compazine? I have never had this drug before and have a tendency toward the less likely side effects of a medication. How long does it take for this to get out of my body, it was administered by IV and I have no idea how much. I do know that the Benedryl was 50mg, the side effects from that were bad enough as I could not keep my legs still no matter what I did. I am at that ER once a month at least as sometimes these are uncontrollable at home, every Dr there gives me

Hello,

If all those remedies you have tried have not helped it may be necessary to remove dead tissue from the pressure ulcer to help it heal. This is known as debridement.

Dead tissue may be removed using:

high-pressure water jets, ultrasound, surgical instruments, such as scalpels and forceps.

A local anaesthetic should be used to numb the area around the ulcer so debridement (if not being treated with a dressing) doesn't cause you any pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Suzana Zharri, General & Family Physician
