General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Muscle spasms caused by many reasons like-
- Over exertion/ over use/ excessive exercises.
-psychological stress
- Electrolyte imbalance
- Stress fracture of rib weak bones (Osteoporosis )
- nerve compression at spinal level
- Chronic cough
* In my view when muscle relaxant like bacfelon & gabapentin were not effective...so in your case investigations pertaining to electrolyte imbalance/bone affection/ respiratory involvement & heart investigations in case left hand is involved in pain( as per need found after detailed physical examination),should find the cause followed by cause specific treatment
A physician would help you in this respect.
* Till then you can try home remedies like application of local pain ointments like Pirox gel over the counter/ you can foment it/ over the counter pill of Ibuprofen 200 mg taken three times a day after food would would offer relief .
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
