What Causes Muscle Spasms Throughout The Body?

I have muscle spasms throughout my entire body. My thighs, my feet, my toes ,my back my stomach , face, throat. Sound strange ? I have been to a Neurologist who took one look at me and said I didn t have MS (he did not do an exam of any kind)! I then had my doctor order an MRI which doctor said showed nothing wrong. It is almost debilitating sometimes I can t walk. While it affects both sides it is more prevalent on left side. I can t seem to find answers.

Hi,

Yes, the symptoms sound strange a you have mentioned, and when the Neurologist has given opinion and MRI of brain is normal not showing Multiple Sclerosis. Noted your symptoms of muscle spasm all over body.
This means you need further evaluation.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Have proper clinical evaluation done by another Doctor and go for all relevant investigations as follows:
Tests of blood: particularly Serum electrolytes, calcium, parathyroid hormones, thyroid function tests.
Electromyography.
MRI of spine.
Spinal fluid analysis.
Any other investigations as would be advised.
Psychological evaluation if all the investigations are within normal range.
Reduction of stress and anxiety.
Once a proper cause is found then it would be easy to get treated properly.
