What Causes Muscle Weakness And Fatigue While On Epidural Blood Patch?
My 17 year old daughter had an epidural blood patch to resolve an orthostatic headache. A week later she developed a litany of symptoms. Bone pain in arms and legs. Muscle weakness. Fatigue. Dysphagia. Generally feels sick. Blood tests for infection came back normal. So did mri of entire spine to rule out spinal infection and nerve root compression. It s been six weeks and we are completely baffled as are the doctors.
Extreme muscle weakness and fatigue can be part of underlying auto-immune disorder causing myositis, early anti phospholipid syndrome or polymyopathy via auto-immune antibodies to certain antigens. Kindly approach an expert immunologist to resolve this matter with greater depth of evaluation over and above MRI spine.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
