What Causes Muscles Spasms Along With Blackouts In Vision?
Hi, I ve been getting a very strange sensation at night. It usually originates in my chest and then sends a strange jarring sensation throughout my body. It often occurs upon exhalation and can lead to a momentary feeling of blackouts. It also seems to be connected to an upward muscle spasm or contraction through my upper stomache or esophagus. It is very unnerving..... Thanks, Stacy
Muscle spasms with blackouts is commonly due to gastritis, side effects of certain medications, intoxication (alcohol, etc), epilepsy, etc. Avoid addictions if any. Stay well hydrated & well fed. Take adequate sleep. Control your blood pressure & blood glucose level at all cost if hypertensive or diabetic. Take antacids & PPI's for relieve. Take muscle relaxants, SOS when required.
Check out the medications you have been taking that could cause such symptoms (you have not mentioned here). You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP or a Neurologist, get all blood & imaging tests done to rule out epilepsy or any neurological problems.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
