Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Narcolepsy, Tiredness, Bad Memory And Slurred Speech?
I dont know if this is a health concern but I keep falling asleep many many many times every day at random times like while driving, sitting ( my job does a lot of sitting down) and I m always tired and my memory is bad and I slur my speech and I have trouble concentrating and staying awake even though I get a full nights sleep. do I just need to sleep longer? help? I m very concerned about Why this is happening
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Here are 2 possibilities. 1) this could be obstructive sleep apnea , it usually happens in obese people who snore at night time and had poor night sleep and as a result experience all the problems you are facing. 2) other one is narcolepsy same features along with cataplexy and sleep paralysis.
So i suggest that you should have tests like polysomnography and Epworth sleepiness scale. these are done by sleep specialist. So that you have correct diagnosis as both diseases have different manangment protocols.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
