What Causes Nasal Bleeding After A Glaucoma Surgery?
Hi, I had done my glaucoma surgery on my left eye, due to injured of badminton shuttle on the left eye. After I done my surgery for one and half month, there are a light nose bleeding on my left nose in sudden. May I know any related on the nose bleeding with the surgery? Thanks.
Glaucoma surgery is essentially done for the eye and has no connection with the nose. Nasal bleeding one and half months after the glaucoma surgery is not related to the surgery but is due to some local cause in nose itself. The causes can be nasal inflammation and so on.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Consult an ENT surgeon for nasal endoscopy to find the exact cause so that you can be treated as per the cause found.
- Rule out hypertension as this is one of the reasons for epistaxis.
- Till then you can use Otrivin or nasal decongestant drops.
- Do not blow nose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
