What Causes Nasal Embolization?

My son 52 had to have a nasal emboli zation due to arterial bleeding.I would like advice as to causes this. Yes, he has hypertension, treated with BP meds, drinks alcohol moderately+, and is under stress, overweight and intelligent and worried. His Dr grandfather, died at 56, alcoholic had nasal hemorrhage in his life. Treated them ok, in the 50 s. Grandmother. Hypertensive, died at age 48 of strike. Me his mom has heart disease and pacemaker but feels great, age 73.Father PD. All that med history

I read your question and I understand your concern.

First of all let me correct your question, it shouldn't be what causes nasal embolization, as the embolization is what was done by the doctors to treat him, to stop his bleeding. Embolization means occluding the bleeding blood vessel.
So I guess what you want to know is what caused the bleeding. Very high blood pressure values can cause rupture of the blood vessel wall and bleeding. Also if his drinking has damaged his liver, advanced liver disease can bring coagulation issues (but his blood work would show that, so probably not the case or you would have been told). At times it could be simply the case of a born abnormal vessel in the nasal wall which is fragile and prone to rupture in the setting of high blood pressure. It would be nothing to panic about in itself, just careful in controlling blood pressure.
