Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Nausea After Having Voriconazole And Levofloxacin?
My husband was recently released from hospital after thoracic surgery (top lobe removed) and was prescribed this drug along with Voriconazole (200 mg twice daily), and Levofloxacin (750 mg once daily) and the past 2 days, he has become nauseated about 2.5 - 3 hours after his morning meds. I gave him all meds after he ate breakfast and am wondering if he should take them on am empty stomach a certain amount of time prior to eating instead? He s very weak and the nausea and vomiting inhibit his desire to eat anything else until later at night, therefore only getting 1-2 meals a day. He cannot afford to not eat as he lost almost 30 pounds on his 25 days in this hospital. Thank you for your suggestion. Sorry, I should have realized there was a charge. I will call his physician instead.
It is due to severe gastritis. As a first line management, you can take antacids-antiemetic to liken Pantoprazole-Domperidone for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
