What Causes Nausea And An Altered Sense Of Taste While On Prednisolone?
Hi. I was on a 5day course of 25mg/day prednisolone 2 months ago. Last week I had a 2nd course of 25mg/day for 4 days. Last dose on Sunday (it is now Friday). No taper for both. 1st time I felt fine after but this time I feel off in general, tired, a bit nauseous, funny taste in mouth and a bit of reflux. Is this a common feeling after steroids or is it something I should see a doctor about? Thanks
The symptoms seem to be related to side effects of Prednisolone and are completely normal. I suggest to use a gastro protector during the use of Prednisolone. I recommend using Omeprazole 20 mg daily in the morning before breakfast. I also suggest to avoid food that can trigger the symptoms such as spicy food.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
