What Causes Nausea And Excessive Salivation In A Person With GERD?

I have a senior friend with a hiactal hernia and gerd. She has had colonaspoy and tests with things put down her throat. Extensive tests and heart checked. She is on meds and been to many drs. She continues to feel nautious and lately has been having problems with salvia continuously coming up that is white and thick. She cant sleep because of this.PS She has changed her diet completley, does not go to sleep until three hours after she eats, tries to sit up.She continues to loose weight and the salvia problem is causing real issues -please help

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain problem of excessive salivation is a common finding with acid reflux [GERD] and Hiatal hernia patients and in case if she is unable to get relieved with medications there is a possibility that she needs higher doses of medication like Proton pump inhibitors and H blockers..
As she has a thick and white saliva she should also drink plenty of water and
the acid will get diluted..
Getting tested for other causes of hypersalivation that can be due to reduced swallowing tendencies like Parkinsonism, Myasthenia Gravis can also be ruled out for confirming the cause..
A consultation with a trained Gastroenterologist will help..
